I am a student of all histories around the globe, but my specialties include biblical history, late ancient history, medieval European history, modern European history, American history, Jewish history, and Catholic history. Visit my history page for more in-depth information. Inseparable from the history of man is the institution of religion. It has always fascinated me with the way it enthralls and enraptures (good choice of words, re the 'rapture', hah?) the majority of humanity. The religions with which I am most familiar are the three great monotheistic faiths: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Check out the religion page. Just knowing about history and religion are not always enough. One must visit the places where history was made and where religions were born to truly obtain a deeper understanding of what the human experience has been. I have been up and down the eastern seaboard of the United States, around some of the Great Lakes states, throughout England, and in the north of France. My next destination is definitely Italy, from where much of the course of European history, and indeed the world, was directed. After that, my next destination will be Poland, where Ashkenazi Jews had lived for centuries being all but eliminated during World War II. My travel page is home to more travel information. As one travels through all the regions of the world, one experiences all the wonderful tastes the world has to offer. I love cooking and experimenting, but I also enjoy making the tried and true dishes that my ancestors have been making for centuries. From my Pennsylvania Dutch side, I make dishes like Chicken Pot Pie (not what you're thinking!), and from my Jewish side, I make Matzo Ball soup, Brisket, Tzimes, Tongue, and Latkes, just to name a few. For many other culinary dishes, visit my cooking page. Technology has spurred the growth of civilization since the dawn of human history, but never has it been so quick and all-encompassing as in the last two centuries. Hold on tight, because the twenty-first century will bring changes never dreamed of, and many that have been imagined. It may just blow your mind! Visit the technology page for more on the technologies of interest to me. Speaking of the things we have imagined...That's what science fiction is for! Since the grandfather of Science Fiction, Jules Verne, wrote his first story about the future, generations have been fascinated with the technologies and the futures we have dreamed up. Since the 1960's, broadcast and cable television have allowed the visions of science fiction pioneers to become accessible to every home with a TV set. Today, science fiction is an art form in its own right, as more and more science fiction writers include real drama, character development, and well-developed plot lines in their creations. Check out my favorite science fiction television programs here. Ah, Disney, the great media giant you are today. But, once upon a time, it was just a dream of a great man by the name of Walter Elias Disney. He brought his dream true in Burbank and Anaheim, California. Then he started the 'Florida Project'. Nearly every person in the United States knows what Walt Disney World is. It is a part of this great country that no one should ever miss. But that isn't all that is Disney...there is so much more!
